The Möller surname (written as "Moeller" in English script) is German in origin. The name essentially means "miller." The earliest of this family were living near the village of Kembs in Schleswig-Holstein.

1st Generation:

Claus Möller was born circa 1691 in Germany. He died on August 26, 1776 in Kembs, Plön, Schleswig-Holstein, Germany ¹.

Close to nothing is known about Clas and his wife Magdalena. Their names comes from their son's marriage record. They probably lived in Schleswig-Holstein.

Clas married Anna Magdalena Voss circa 1720. She was born circa 1692 in Germany. She died sometime between 1744 and 1776.

Christian married Margreth Dorothea Luths on November 18, 1768 in Lütjenburg, Plön, Schleswig-Holstein, Germany ¹. She was born circa 1734 in Germany ¹. She died on February 1, 1784 in Kembs, Plön, Schleswig-Holstein, Germany ¹.

Christopher Hinrich Möller was born on June 9, 1769 in Kembs, Plön, Schleswig-Holstein, Germany ¹. He died on November 1, 1839 in Kembs, Plön, Schleswig-Holstein, Germany ¹.

Christopher may have had other children besides Friederika, but they are not known. He and his wife were living in 1819 (when his father died), but their deaths are not recorded in Lütjenburg Parish. They apparently moved away from the immediate area. Where they went is unknown.

Christopher married Elisabeth Margaretha Wulf was born on November 7, 1797 in Lütjenburg, Plön, Schleswig-Holstein, Germany ¹. She was born on June 28, 1771 in Behrensdorf, Plön, Schleswig-Holstein, Germany. She died on November 20, 1835 in Kembs, Plön, Schleswig-Holstein, Germany ¹.

4th Generation:

Friederika Elisabeth Sophia Möller was born on November 19, 1798 in Kembs, Plön, Schleswig-Holstein ¹. She died on December 1, 1874 in Darry, Plön, Schleswig-Holstein, Germany ¹.

Friederika spent the first part of her life in the village of Kembs, Germany. In 1819, she married Hans Lilienthal, who lived in the nearby village of Darry, Germany. They were married until his death in 1835. She remarried in 1838 and then outlived her second husband by almost 20 years. Friederika remained in Darry for the duration of her life, even though most of her children had moved away from the area.

Her name was spelled variously in records as Friederika, Friederica and Friederike. Although she was baptized with only the names "Friederika Elisabeth", she also appeared with the name Sophia on several records.

Friederica married first Hans Detlef Lilienthal on November 13, 1819 in Lütjenburg, Plön, Schleswig-Holstein, Germany ¹.

Friederica married second Friedrich Christian Rosenthal on August 19, 1838 in Darry, Plön, Schleswig-Holstein, Germany ¹. He was born circa 1813 in Ronfeldholz, Ploen, Schleswig-Holstein, Germany ³. He died on January 31, 1856 in Darry, Plön, Schleswig-Holstein, Germany ¹.

They had the following children:

1 Friedrich Wilhelm Christian Rosenthal was born on August 27, 1839 in Darry, Plön, Schleswig-Holstein, Germany ¹. He died on January 9, 1841 in Darry, Plön, Schleswig-Holstein, Germany ¹.

2 stillborn son Rosenthal was stillborn on October 23, 1841 in Darry, Plön, Schleswig-Holstein, Germany ¹.

3 Johannes Ernst Rosenthal was born on January 26, 1844 in Darry, Plön, Schleswig-Holstein, Germany ¹. He died after 1874.
He might have been the Johannes Ernst Rosenthal who married Sophia Olsdotter in 1875 in Copenhagen, Denmark. They later lived in Kiel, Schleswig-Holstein, Germany. They had children including: Johanne Ernstine Sofie (1876) and Eduard Bernhard (1886).
